welcome to the Keene Board of Education meeting for June 14th 2022 if you please rise and join me in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all thank you before we get fully started I need to acknowledge one of our board members is attending remotely this evening Raleigh ormerod is on this Google meet to my left the legal requirements for that but I have to go through any time that we do this we are allowed to have a member attend remotely if we have a physical location for the meeting we have at least a full Quorum in the physical location which this is actually the first meeting all nine of us together in several months and the board has approved his attending remotely which we taken care of by putting into our manual that covers There Are Rules of Order and Jennifer very exciting for you it also means that all of her both have to be by roll call and then Raleigh has to be able to hear us and we have to be able to hear him so thoroughly to speak up when we ask you to to say hi or whatever thank you all right first order of business tonight was one of my favorite things of the year it's the exceptional teachers presentation we're going to open with a video of recognizing this year's recipients starting to the side so this is our first time back in this format for presenting these last year's some you remember we did this in the Auditorium Theatre for we had to do it over Zoom so like so much else this year we are we have we used to do it with Cheshire TV which doesn't exist anymore we now use AMT Productions so we are doing things a little bit differently tonight we're going to ask is for the reefs has to line up over here behind the stable behind Ron and Ro and such and we will hand out your rewards over there and then we are going to be mean and ask you to pose for a group photo afterwards was it over there at the come here line up over there and then we'll bring you up here to present the award for camera purposes I think it well I'm going to read them and have them to you and you're going to handle all right unless you went to the other way all right I should stress these Awards are based on nominations from their peers from their students from parents that work with them it's not the board is not going around deciding who these will be we did work with several school board members and some folks from the send staff to to determine we had a lot of nominees this year which was great to see everything that you saw on that video presentation all of these nominations come from people that interact with them on a daily basis which I think is one of the things makes us so many ft alright Liz Markey Meredith pancake Alex Gibney then coming across more you got okay Alexis Alexis Christine Gilles Shelly still conflict Bonnie larocca Sarah Tucker Guthrie Joy Livengood Thomas garcelle Barbara Kaufman and Sophia robot real world and after Rob takes his Paparazzi photo we're going to recess for a couple minutes and let on to take a real photo most of our audience is left us we will come back into session next up on the agenda is public input you folks are here for the trustees right up so we have no public draw the board's attention the student who came and spoke at last month's meeting we asked for a copy of what she said here because that was different than the document that she gave us that is in your drive in the public but section if you want to peruse her letter at your at your Ledger next up is the consent agenda can I have a motion to approve improve tonight's consent agenda second is anyone want anything removed from the consent agenda this evening all right Jennifer we need a roll call for approval yes yes yes yet yes yes yes carries 90 thank you next up is the trustees of the trust fund reports when I gave you all one chair but if you want to bring up a second one and come join us at the stable I just imagine what they will do it. Can I just have you guys take your name for the record as well my name is Bob Newhart and the chair of the trustees Tony Chamblee St first of all I'd like to thank you for it it's good to give the presents something in person this year I appreciate the opportunity it's been a wild one the formal name of our group is the Keene School District Trustee of trust funds it's been around in one form or another of about 75 how the current structure has been around for about 15 years Chris would remember that time frame our mission is to prudently invest in act as stewards all donations we received it's primarily to benefit current and future students although there are some special funds that serve other purposes if we we also are custodians School District funds that are just temporary holding tank if you well for those funds as the school district needs it it's really out of it I reflected on it today it's a it's a it's a joy to do this work I've been at. I've been at this for the entire 15 years that we've existed it's always something new this past year give you an idea of the timelessness of what we do tragically two students from the class of 1964 went to Vietnam in the height of the no more 1967 and both of them died within two months of arriving the class of 1964 had a reunions died 3 years ago and they realize that the money that was put in the fun to honor those two students Two Fellas was really insufficient now so they made it a project of their group to triple or quadruple that fun to try to provide a more meaningful scholarship in the future and they've done all of that so it's it's a it was really an amazing effort and Tony Tony and his wife alike that the piano and in some of their friends so it was really a meaningful effort one of the interesting things that came about when the classes before I began to realize that the bit the Des fund which had been in place since 1967 the original scholarship was $500 and it hit even though the funds have been carefully managed the scholarship had grown to 700 or 7:50 and that was it over 50 and they took it on themselves to try to one of the members of their little committee they formed committee and they took it on themselves to try to figure out what the economic impact of that $500 scholarship would have been in 1967 in 2020 dollars and it was about 47 your dollars in in 26 so one of the members of the class made a gift of $4,700 to the phone just to pay it forward she had received a scholarship back in 1964 play from Keene high that fund at the time when the class decided to take it on had about a $17,500 give or take. Corpus it's now close to 50,000 the class members of the 2 years have contributed over 25,000 in new contributions but in their container they just to listen to themselves they going to do it every year as long as they can and continue to make this fun grow so that's kind of thought it would be kind of interesting to see it that motivation to try to find ways to grow These funds is something that we're taking a serious look at and and there are a number of other funds that have continued to grow with continuing Kanter many of them are you know it's it's through investment only that they would that they would grow so but this one is really quite remarkable I've neglected to introduce the other trustee who's in hips 10 Show 2 Chainz staplers the third trustee Tony and Jane have a credibly varied background in endowments testing in another work life I was a practicing CPA for almost 50 years here in the Kink community so we I think we bring some unique skill sets and it said to enjoyable effort for all of us we meet monthly sometimes lately more often but we certainly were covid impacted we've done it Every Witch Way remote lately we've been meeting more often in person which I'm sure you realize how more how far more productive that whole process is how we get great SAU administrative support Tim and Mary we could do what we do without their support we have approximately 50 endowment funds permanently endowed funds and we're currently managing about six million dollars we also have some independent investment advisors based out of Connecticut with your given what's happened the last year or so there are advice is incredibly important to what we I think we need to do this month we awarded approximately 60 new scholarships + 19 continuing multiyear scholarships we have should have won two or three more years of scholarships that they're entitled to if they keep their grades up that totaled approximately $220,000 today I wanted to profile to you I've some of you may know of this for a long time Keene High School teacher passed away in October of 2020 he essentially left us his entire it's still being probated we had a house we had to dispose of which was unique effort is taking place but we were still able to do a an award this year for the first time it said it was one year but it was the biggest individual award that went out we awarded $10,000 to a student the the directive to us was very unique the teacher believed in Helen different philosophy on kids in the word process and many of you may know that we have no as trustees we have no role in the awarding of the process of the sky I will Rose to make sure the money is there when that decision is made we continue to work on a number of initiatives especially a book project in it's we're almost there I'm pretty confident that we're going to publish the book in the fall on the purposes to profile some of these longstanding 264 and the Fuller Bartlett which many of you may know about that that goes back to like 1935a we have information about that we hired Alan Rumble of the Historical Society Staffing they dug up stuff that in the group effort and we also I should say that a local King family is funding this book projects in honor of their their parents who graduated from Keene high so it's with no scholarship money is being used for this book project but we think it's going to be a pretty cool thing in Antonio the real background in this kind of stuff so he's prodded us to make it is as special as we can possibly make it one of our stories of these people who have been memorialized by the creation of these funds not be lost over time and that it be readily available to the students who they just get $1,000 check who is so and so we want them to know a little bit about who this person is that small I realize and to understand that these scholarships don't just appear out of thin air they are the result of philanthropy and someone else's generosity and caring about them and the future students from the high school. the supposed to be a tool for conveying that information to the students and students will receive a copy and that sort of thing we're still searching for photos that's been the hardest just don't you think good photos yearbook photos are always the best but we have to resort to some of those you know but it's coming along very nicely in this Bob said we think ready to publish by Paul you have anything else to say or I would entertain any questions if anybody has any of us so it's it's a me enjoy doing we never have a problem with a quorum everybody I should I should I should mention John Wrigley also John is ex-officio and he he if is somebody wants to give us some money and we are not comfortable with the how they want us to disperse it has a real good source to sound off make sure we're okay with that too so Huntress look at U of I want to say that the book ideas X that's a really good one as chair I've had for the last 5 years I present the Fuller Bartlett and a couple others that come through your trust and does the ceremony is is wonderful and four board members the scholarships that they oversee accounted for about half of what was awarded at a scholarship night this year it's a amount that goes to our graduates all across the board to it's not just the top athletic the top academic it's the criteria really spread it it way out but one thing I noticed this year is the number of individual presenter was down you partly because there's still some concern about coming back in full person but I suspect that some of them we've just they won't come back after we've gone to Virtua for two years and then you lose those stories we just present the scholarship by name so it's it's a great idea to to start recording that and and have a record of who is being awfully had conversations about how to plan the Resurgence of that in the coming years and this again this book we think will be a tool to help make that happen the I think these two gentlemen John Wrigley and the other individual they're the quite modest when they're singing what they do and how important they are to the scholarship going we know how we had change the situation where we had a lot of embezzlement we lost almost $400,000 as money you we work together are you guys came up for you guys put more Trust back into the scholarship because if you can if I can't trust someone to take good guardians of my money I'm not donating any money so the work and time that did building the trust as really paid it using you would that you really paid it forward for a lot of students that come and come here and have gotten it the scholarships in I personally want to say thank you because I came when I came on the school board I get stuck on this and it says oh yeah we want this amount of money and the number kept getting bigger and bigger and bigger until we were able to finally get it online and then create the new what we have right now and you guys have done a great job and been unbelievably beneficial to the school community thank you thank you bro I would agree they've brought the trust back into trust fund for sure and I I just want to Echo the the Gratitude of the appreciation now that you're back in person I get to see the Ruckus activities over at the office you guys we have to have quiet you down because you're just really loud but you're always get when you come in you're always really very business-like are there for a purpose in you you get done what needs to be done but you enjoy doing it and you can see it in your faces when I do get to pop in and say hello on those occasions and I appreciate being able to do that and being able to see you and on behalf of the thousands of students who have been fortunate enough to be recipients of these efforts I just want to say thank you for a job well done you see people so anytime you want to come posted and they're open so we welcome visitors any other comments or questions for them all right end and your drive you do have a letter signed by Robert and Tony in support of reappointment of James Taylor is the third trustee for a three-year term can I have a motion to that effect did you tell my mom didn't speak to the Stabler and you let her speak for yourself as executive Financial man experience work in foundations and is really knowledgeable about Investments and she's a great proactive I would say member of the team she's she's takes on assignments and always has she just fabulous she's very we rely on her opinion and her knowledge base and that it's good to make a good team we we were like we kind of looked at her as we're finishing up a discussion of something because she takes it all in and then typically has something that it'll straighten this out and get it going on the highway the right way again and she's very very very talented so thank you Jennifer that motion should have read for a three-year term work that you do for us Bakery she ate very much alright reported the board chair I need to get up on my computer up there with me all right I need to open once again congratulating the Keene High School graduating class of 2022 commencement ceremony was this past Friday several if you were intendant and it did Mark a return to traditional graduation ceremony over at Alumni field it was a wonderful celebration of the Journey of these students and it was great to be back to the old traditions where we've always done this in the past all of the speakers focused on kindness on Unity I'm working together to build a better future with Justin from chaos and kindness came in as the keynote speaker and none of this was planned but his speech really a code what the the students in the adult it said print previous to them so it all came together for well as a great conclusion to several weeks returning to kind of the traditional year-end celebrations at the high school staff the administration in the students here in this building deserve a huge thanks for all the work that went into brain those celebrations after several years of being forced to look for Alternatives of this year's senior class had to work with an Administration and basically none of them had seen most of these things this year's senior class work they had a traditional freshman year but you're what kind of learning what the building looks like and the rest of their Journey has been through covid much of our Administration came on board during covid so they were really Reinventing Traditions that they had not necessarily seen so that that was a lot of work they deserve credit for pulling that together the overall district is wrapping up our end of year for everyone else in the next few days as we close out this year the boards thanks all of our administrators our Educators our students and our families for all the it went into did this year into getting us here to the end we did this past Sunday celebrate our retirees from the district over at Marlborough house Marlborough New Hampshire that's always your sweet Rob how many years was it combined 400 something 491 491 years of combined experience that was retiring this year so we spent a little bit but I'm talking about institutional knowledge everything that they've done for us you know what the end of the day it's it will be tough to replace these folks but they certainly earned this next chapter in their lives so that was an excellent ceremony as well I'm bored traditionally does not meet during the month of July not to allow the administration some breathing room. Will not be meeting this July either our next full board meeting will be the second Tuesday in August and will be primarily devoted to a working Retreat session and some mandatory business that will have to work with some of our committees will meet in August not all of them I do want to know the Kea has previously requested that we begin to go see a shins on our next contract with the teachers this summer rather than waiting until fall and the board has agreed to that so to that end our respective teams will begin working this month to schedule some meetings for the summer to start working on negotiations with the Kean so the board looks forward to a more collaborative negotiation this year we agree with the Kea that many of our priorities for the coming year are similar and we're hoping to build on those in negotiations process once we do start back to business in August we'd have a busy year ahead besides the usual getting process which does begin in September for the finance committee we will have another contract in negotiate as well recommendations coming out of the community forums to work through some of which will hear about tonight working to develop better Communications with wind staff and families as well as advancing our stated goals surrounding diversity equity and inclusion over the past eight weeks the students staff and families as well as the administration of the school district to pull together to address the increasing pressure challenges that it reached a point that was making education difficult in especially our biggest school but really at all levels the collaboration the effort and above all the compassion in this district has been overwhelming over the last eight weeks and is ultimately allowed for the that's what completion of this year highlighted by this past week celebration of our seniors the level of work that some of our staff which was vital to this outcome would not be sustainable over a full year what is sustainable is the collaboration in the compassion went behind that effort the board looks forward to building on that Foundation next year as we work together to make sure this year's crisis does not repeat as well as building our district back with a stronger Foundation than we started with that's what I have next up the superintendent's report mr. Malay Rob face blowing a kiss I was sitting here thinking of you all right you've already done all of the thank you that I was going to do but I do want to act over them we've said it throughout the year it's been a challenging year and you're like no other men so it was last year and so it was the year before that and you know at the end at the end of the year we're standing there on June shaking hands with over 300 students as they walk across the stage some of them being marched across the stage on an iPad because they weren't able to be there physically you know so there is some lessons that we've learned in the celebrations at continue to get back to what we've always known them as and I think that that's a real tribute to the efforts of the folks who have been pulling those pieces together of folks were the historical knowledge info to navigating all of the nuances of making the logistics work being able to have a prom on-site underneath the tent I've heard nothing but glowing reports of about that night and then salmagundi being back in the gym last week Thursday to present the yearbook we've got a new yearbook advisor our previous yearbook advisor retired a year ago and someone came in brand-new and knocked it out of the park and brought it back inside the gym seeing the stew move from one section to the next section over in the gym seems kind of silly and trivial but it's really really ceremonial and in uplifting when you get to move from that Junior section of the bleachers over to the senior section and when get to move out of the Freshman section you're no longer The Freshman you know it means a lot to the students when they get to make that shift and it's very symbolic very ceremonial but very appropriate and the kids did a fantastic job supporting one another supporting those who perform supporting those who were recognized during that event and you know that's what it really boils down to and that's what it's all about it touched a little bit on you know we've got a few more coming up we've got all four elementary schools who are finishing off their celebrations tomorrow I believe Franklin's at 5:30 Fuller in Wheelock you're both at 6 no no no Fuller at 6 Wheelock at 6 Fuller at 6:30 Simons at 7 so I'm a lot of places to be and not a lot of me to all of those are happening tomorrow and then Friday is the final one for the King School District at 1 in the afternoon with the Middle School 8th grade achievement day 30 right I'm going to be there at 1 so we can meet up it starts at 1:30 officially Jonathan Daniels had their end of Year celebrations than they did it a little differently Joanne had to going to look at how they've been doing it in years past even before covid and said you know what we need to change it up a little bit make it a little bit more preschool-age friendly and hot so adult formal and so they had a Wonder time celebrating and doing that stuff as well aside from all of those celebrations you know some of the lessons continue to go on and you might hear otherwise or you know what they shut off they've tuned out the last week of school wear in the last week of school in the 8th graders over at the middle school or out launching that Rockets yesterday that they built it's a pretty cool event you know they sit there they take the time to construct these rockets and then they go outside and they set him off and they've got little parachute people inside of the rocket so when it reaches a certain height and opens up and they come down some of them go really really high some of them go really really are some of them don't go so far and they do all kinds of things they were so supportive of one another I sat out there for about 35-40 minutes watching them in the students were really supportive when one went out they were clapping matter where the rocket win or what it did and it feels good it feels really good so just to Echo your accolades you know I want to congratulate the the staff the administration the student the families our entire community and the Keene board of education for a very successful year might not have always been smooth and easy but here we are celebrating all of those successes and all of that effort and all of that hard work my report is in their very short this month just wrapping up the end of the year next year you'll see a totally different format with a superintendent report it aligned with the evaluation that we just implement this year so you'll have more be back every single month so that when you get to the evaluation stage next April dish you'll have an easier time following along with the evaluation so will align that reports up for that with that so that it'll make it a lot more seamless for you right during the April break we put out that survey regarding learn from home days formerly known as blizzard bags and so I didn't want the year to come to a close without providing you that feedback so that you could see what the feedback look like from the 1400 folks that did weigh in on that I gave you all of the data not just the King School District you have all of the district's all of the districts have all of the districts in all of the buildings and everything so that there's absolute transparency on it you look at the comments in the different schools you'll note that there was absolutely zero at 8 there are spelling mistakes are grammar mistakes and there are just single word responses that could have been emitted but I just wanted to put everything on the paper so that you will be able to see so you have all of that information it's all linked I'm not looking for you to make a determination here tonight but I wanted to make sure you had that feedback before the school year came to a close the learn from home committee formerly The Blaze God committee task force met review the data and stood firm with their recommendations based on the feedback in the data so that's presented to you for your consideration and how we want might want to consider using that moving forward I am going to so I don't want us to have to vote on this every year which is what we set ourselves up to do right now I'm thinking is that maybe we need a policy in place that covers you know that the standard policy would say something like we direct the administration to create a proper response to emergency school closures and then would probably include language about how often it gets reviewed and by Hugh by who and and and for what but for this year we also have to review this recommendation so what I'm thinking is I'm actually going to send this documents and recommendation to Rebecca your committee and simultaneously send the overall problem to policy to start working on the wording what a long-term policy would look like so you guys would be reviewing the surveys and the recommendations and talking about how they came to the Mindy and working on the appropriateness thereof for this year as well as discussing what needs to be reviewed annually and if you prefer forward that part back to policy for the fall we will take that on board when we write the policy about reviewing this procedure going for words that make sense for what you're doing with it well we're not going to get a snowstorm until at least late October now you know I know I know I have now we're going to get us know so July probably but the other alternative is we passed something tonight that's fine with me I mean I'm open to that we don't have anyone from the learn from home here commit yeah I don't think it was on it where you want lucky you and sending you were on it aren't you lucky so that we do have people here we could do that tonight it takes it out of committee and it extends the length of this meeting but if that's the will of the board that's what we'll do regardless of what we do here tonight I do like the idea of establishing a policy where there's time frame it's review number of years that that I think is is valuable just because it gets something established and then it it it's not something that has checking out continue to go annually through through the board that's that's not too going to say it's it's something that we don't want to know about or you know because Miss enough and and here feet but just thinking in terms of streamlining and making it you know known for everywhere from building administrators all the way down to parents and community it's my two I doubt we'll still go get the direction to policy in place regardless I think we need to have that long term we don't want to be here every year looking at this over and over we want the schools looking at this cuz it's really an operational decision we just want to put some guardrail we didn't pass learn from home until October of last year either I don't know how stressful people found that what are you guys want to do thoughts comments Rob don't have a thought or a comment I'm just going to offer what other districts have done this is the fifth eating throughout the SAU so that means four Boards of met three of decided they were going to wait until their meeting in September and one has already taken action on that feedback so just so you have that contact I'm not telling you what you should or shouldn't do this is really a decision that your decision yeah go ahead Raleigh outstanding ID stream my nest and put it into a policy have a review maybe it's five years maybe it's eight years I would support that that sounds like an outstanding idea thank you Ali I think based on last year's timeline and the fact that most of the SAU is doing the same I'm going to keep it where it is and give your committee time to cuz you guys can look at it in a little more in-depth than we can do tonight if you want us to bring a recommendation from education and September and I'll send you what policy committee is looking for as well cuz that'll be all right you can continue Rob okay keeping with the directive from the end of March I did put the discipline incidents and consequences in there I wasn't planning to go through that in-depth but you asked need to report it to you on a monthly basis and so I didn't want to miss that I'm expectation and so that it is therefore you and one of the other things that is under the superintendent report is we wanted to give you some of the feed back from the outcomes of the public forums in the other forms that were held and what Cindy and her team have put together in the form of an action plan so. I'd like to ask you to come up to the table to share I'm at but if you do want to go through any of the incidents or the consequence data I mean there's 20 pages of incident data and three pages of consequence data no I haven't robbed can we get that up on the screen or or have Alex bring it up I'm pulling up in just a couple pictures in the in the driveway if you can't find it it's number 07 using Edward call k a n k a chess action plan wait wait till you're at the mic is one in the drive this has been amended a little bit after I met with today not significant changes but they're not identical cuz it's going to be a living document couple of things prior to the document that it's kind of fun to think about the House of 2028 we told the board last it won't beginning of this year that that was the class that we wanted it all set for when they come in in 2025 we should have all of our procedures in place, it should be placed the Gap should be closed sometimes at the disparity of grade level action for math and reading their graduation year is 2028 and the symbol on the graduation ceremony booklet tells us if that's the 200th year of Keene High School that's pretty cool so they will be the 200 class of Keene high school that will also be our guest Samuel me ask year the reading this action plan I can't have a whole bunch everything's happening so I'm holding all of those helium balloons with a great big bow around them as we start to think about how to celebrate rather than moving away from something bad I really want to frame this as moving towards something exceptional so 2028 is in 6th grade going into 7th grade we've got our eyes on them all right so that's what that first paragraph is and that's the goal people asked me to identify the steps for the rollout of this the data was collected we had the two Community forums and Brian I didn't see the number what was it about the total of people there over 400 so 700 people watched or participated in that from our community the forms had to two different flavors to it which made sorting the data interesting one was more targeted and here's your problems the other one was like here's where we want to go here Solutions so you'll see that starts with The Faculty held 34 moms that were facilitated on their own and then all of the students were given access to a survey so 1300 + students had the opportunity to complete the same set of questions and then the administrative team wrote their own questions and fill those out and I stepped back so that we have it not feel like there was any pressure so that's the data that we went through we did benefit from high five and I haven't had a chance to thank them but they did transcribed all the community data for us and had given to the first store sort romantically concurrent with all of this the veteran teacher stepped up and they've presented to the Keene high together group they became what the is the evolving building leadership team and so that group has been meeting me regularly and three folks volunteered to be on the data committee anyone with knowledge of Matt Craven from social studies Renee Lupa from Special Ed and Susan Romano from science and let me tell you something that was a fun experience when you get to work folks that like data and know how to manipulate it and can stuff away and come back we did we Cut the Cake horizontally we cut it vertically and we cut it diagonally before we came up with something that started to feel good together and so what you see is a assembly of themes some of which are directed at problem some of which are directed at possible solutions under each theme is the actions that have occurred mostly in the last eight weeks there were some things being put in place prior to the eight weeks you'll remember we realized that we had a discipline problem so we went from the dean of students model two or three house model that was the start of our transition moving forward I don't need to read the whole report for you I mean I can just highlight the the five themes of those are you familiar with Maslow this came to me over the weekend and when I presented it to the group of made sense to them we're not saying things line up for saying that the pyramid is intuitively telling us how to build from the foundation for the route so just quickly get down at the bottom for us our number of our bottom is really looking at the organizational supports and the environment and foundational pieces you've spoken to one of the contract negotiations those of us that came on board after the last contract in walked into some really low morale and cross many bargaining units the Kea being the largest that was a hard piece to step into the dissolving and changing of the administrative model that we got hired into was a roadblock cross the busing schedule and I'm not complaining about the late start I'm complaining about the way the busing schedule incorporates a late start some of our kids don't get in the building until ten of nine even though we start at 8:40 and they still have to go get breakfast so it's the busting coupled with the late start and if the other end of it our kids are here because the bus is coming so late that the teachers are non-contract anymore so we have all of our administrators doing bus duty at night so that's been a shift for us there all the things that are listed in their the memo use with the two sending District 4 Cheshire career center control are bell schedule and one of the ones that's probably I'm going to call it problematic cuz I don't know what else to call it is the 4 by 4 block schedule which is in effect now 20 years give or take a little bit Yeah okay 20-plus creates 30 to credit our opportunities and it 1.28 credits was the Kingston so that left room for for study halls we've now backed off to a 24 credit diploma creating lots of room for early release for our most engaged students cuz they have exhausted our curriculum leaving us at some points with Jeff disengage students in the building and so you know when you start to look at the net effect of all of these things but that's them that's the bottom one we need to look at that but the truth is a lot of that out of our control and the big Focus for us has been in the day-to-day safety fee cuz that's what brought a lot of this to our attention so this team that we've attacked attacked attack safety it's a bad metaphor that we've approached with the safety you can look through that there was a lot of emphasis the last eight weeks we know about the in high together group and how they stepped up the hall duties the bathroom checks the support and ISS in the cafeteria things that they brought back institutionally where things to make things run more efficiently early and release stickers on ID now that people don't have to run around inside sign out so we've benefited from that there's been a huge focus on the Safety Committee and making sure our drills are set and then we benefited from passing that policy ihb ISO the alternative plans oh your time my graduation guess what I did today I give the kid who finished his credit as close to graduation as possible his diploma he didn't realize he finished so you didn't walk so I got to do a photo op with him at the end of the day today handed him his diploma a product of the ihpi so we actually had good for graduates go across using ihbis soon as it was past we put it into place one came up with with Rob and I and he may be a grow more facial hair. Nice and I was just like Millie and I wrote I know I said we made the right decision so that that policy which we're grateful to have is now well on on the way to get getting us going to Indy when you're speaking to that we used ihpi I got a note from from the mom just saying thank you I really appreciate the effort to not give up so when we when you start to hear those individual stories and then you guys heard this one I entered we should be able to find a way for every kid to complete their High School experience not every kid will get the same diploma some will get high sets some will jump over to Adult Ed but every single kid should be able to complete in five years after 8 every single kid that's our goal when I say that that's the class of 2028 went by 2020 900% of them should have something that allows us to be proud of them for completing from our school we are looking at the use of North Campus we've had significant staff turnover there so that opens up a window to look at it I've heard the history of it I've heard what it look like with heterogeneous group things I've looked at our numbers with that students with IEPs may be able to do some split scheduling there where in the morning it starts one population and then in the afternoon it serves our at-risk populations were starting to look at that a little bit Kristen's been very generous and coming up with great ideas for construction the next theme is about to kitchen and transparency sometimes that feels like it belongs together cuz you want to communicate with transparency other times it's really about our teachers talking to our parents about about positive and negative things and are we really disclosing what happened when we said there was a real it's cool so how can we be more transparent but we regrouped those two together we are going to be looking at more favorable ways to write our own narrative where are we meeting this afternoon are positive document comes out quarterly and it's on the 60 Pages that's the beacon so a student could do something on the last day of The Fall season and not get recognized until January which is Midway through the next Sports season so we're going to look at how to get those positive pieces of information out I'm in a more timely way we actually piloted with the last two drills preset announcements so the parents got announcements about the drills as the drill was happening so we're learning how to use the new aspects of the is Bob still here it's not whatever the alert system is bright Arrow that's the name of the it's a new alert system so we're learning how to use that I'm there is a shared governance model that's emerging when I was hired the department head role was one of the controversies we add veteran staff and some of our best instructors with an additional prep not with students we were trying to bring forward competency-based education and we were trying to figure out how to use the administrative model as you added a new administrator to it and we created a triangle missing a prong we had a two-sided triangle instead of a three-sided triangle we created the instructional team ilt has been doing fabulous work for the last two years we added the department administrator but I'm missing that operations piece that requires departmental level and so that's the piece that we're untangling right now and trying to pull who does what so you actually have another live document in there that's LinkedIn that you can see that at that's that's emerging so we'll be running with two Committees of faculty in this fall when looking at operation civil do community safety and celebrations and one looking at instruction and that's the group that's two years along with the competency-based education and you guys can touch the Eminem watch it live it went out to the full faculty on Sunday for feedback through this Friday and then we'll bring it back in and post the positions and see who we can get nominated into it with that we resurrected some of the committee structure so there's a new tech committee that they were working pretty hard today the last of the next the next one which is not quite the top and next one's about relationships and restorative practices you'll see that we put all the celebrations in when you when we went from homecoming and we did that first pep rally 2nd September October and then we hit the winter we missed a celebration in the winter cuz we just didn't do it winter pep rally and then March April hit us and we hit we went down into what I called the whole being able to pull off with the community pulled off and you guys are given testimony to it but you know it's what I school should feel like I have tickets out on Twitter cuz you liked it I have the video Chris Barry and two of our seniors are playing on the guitar and everybody's at a concert with their cell phone in the gym with the lights dimmed and it just goes on and my note is 1300 can come together and make it strong so we can do this I get kind of excited about it sorry and then the last part is our academics are one of our biggest frustrations right now is that we don't have control over our bell schedule between the start times in the stop times with the buses and the memorandum of understanding with the two sending District they determine where second Block in third La car and we can't move the I time earlier because we throw the schedule off for Monadnock in Fall Mountain now we can do it with him if we give them enough notice but right now we have the same the same schedule and I time is not and the way it was intended it's just that simple it's not and so we're really struggling with that I've pushed this The Faculty to take some risks I think that there's a I don't think it I know it there's a culture of a fish failure here so they're afraid to pull the plug and try it cuz something else is going to go wrong are you better off with what you know where are you better off with what you don't know so we're still debating where to put I time we don't have a room called a home run an advisory system because that same block of time is used for both cuz you can't put something that shows the bell schedule too far off and the place where where most compromised by the schedule is we have no professional Learning Community time unless I budget for substitutes because there's just no place in the schedule for the common planning time the way it's all set up so that really needs to be a big emphasis as we're moving in to 2324 what's the bell schedule got to look at I'm going to ask us to look at our graduation requirements not based on credits but based on tracks where should a student land I'm at the College Bound what does that look like if they're going to be a Cheshire career center complete or what does that look like and if they're going to do something else that's not like Cheshire career center what does that look like military is easy but how do we ensure the kids that aren't military aren't Cheshire and I aren't college-bound have something to land on how do we set up post-secondary Pathways program through credentialing building the e l I was in the career exploration I got to tell you Nancy Rafferty and Charlie Hansel have two very nice Pathways now the question is how do we scale them we probably have over sixty kids doing career exploration right now a secret that nobody knows but stay out of 1300 is not a large number if there's still a lot of room there but the building that the structures of it is good that takes you through the hierarchy those of his team's and the next steps are the counter on the first page if you guys recognize the themes as a thing you heard that would be an affirmation for me tonight this has been vetted only by the three committee members and now here because of the way in which it landed timing-wise so my goal is to set up some Community presentations out of the community pre Temptations I would love to be able to get a steering committee to actually turn this document into a planning document with measurable goals and some outcomes and some expectations will have to do some prioritizing inside the themes about which way they want to go but that's next steps I'll take questions the lot with your micro you just said that only the three of you came but this based on the report back that you received her but committee committee all of the reports and put this put it together so this is the original Report with all the information or this is one that you guys put together that's when we put together based on all the do we do we get access to the original report by the the documents with all of the data is that we can look at it I want to be clear but this effort has been happening at the school and it really needs to stay there it needs to be an administrative thing because if we take it and start working on it in depth in our committees becomes a board effort in that legally changes how it functions effectively it means that all of the meetings have to have the three days notice and minutes and open to the public and voted on and all of that kind of stuff so I don't think there's any reason we can't see the data to the document that have the data connector has to work on it I just said I got. I'd like high fives I'd like the faculty sleep the student one see if I can get this 5 document it's a lot of data but it's by the document some of the documents reference Pigeon Point of that is just to be consistent with our transparency goal and fresh to have the same information and I don't have a problem with the process of coming up with this my I just want to make sure that if I do across something they cleverly come and it doesn't match with what I read I'd like to be able to speak to that because like I said it's interesting when you the amount of data that we went through and the faculty and like that it was recycled I think if we gave it to students that the raw data they come up with different things so that that would be part of the evolution of it I don't think any of us are wed to the actual piece of it as much as we're committed to staying here is a place from which to start it's got to be organic and I appreciate the organization and the you know the 30,000 ft few and then you can work on drill down at the salute to look at what came back because we were a part of all that and I see it's important if people speak to us or we hear things that were consistently knowledgeable and everything we really want you to make sure this thing's included get it to us and we'll get it there right at that we knew they were going to ask you anything but we we do always salute little so that's all I'm saying absolutely yeah go ahead Raleigh if I may I mean thank you if I'm a I'm interested in understanding little bit more about the relationship and restorative practices what that might look like for what how that's going to help and how that is going to create some tangible change maybe you're not ready that but I'm particularly interested in in that area from the 30,000 ft Riley are you have you able to hear me okay what we're looking at their is the relationships relationships and restorative are together and the part we are looking at advisory systems for relationship so how do we get students and their faculty and staff at 11 that makes sense and then what are our student leaders doing how are we building that mentoring relationship so that's that's a piece of it the restorative piece is going to be fascinating I'm meeting with the county attorney Patrick and he said he does restorative practices out of the County Attorney's office we're meeting with him he's coming next week we're meeting with Keene State and their restorative practice they reached out me a couple weeks ago and then Vermont's a little bit ahead of us and so we have some Vermont folks reaching in to help us out as we build that a no and Deanna zilske in the middle school is is is into restorative practices somebody came to me today the draft of the intro to the student conduct section of the handbook that's written from the victim's perspective and the way in which we need to do supportive measures for the victim and not be weeding with consequences so it really become shifting our Focus away from the offender who you know that 5% and putting it back to putting a lot of our energy back into the larger part of the community and then working with the 5% to help them see the harm their causing and have them start to take some ownership for it thank you it looks like we're really going in ag right direction though I appreciate hearing that thank you Kathy moratti over at Fuller has a background was restorative justice as well maybe another resource to reach out thank you for alternate Lee Rob as we expand this beyond the high school came out of the is that we do need to expand down cuz if we're waiting for kids to get to 9th grade to learn to competency-based education to learn how to say they're sorry to answer process questions and you know you can't do that in ninth grade because you're not seeing the benefits of it until 12th grade it be great to be starting it earlier when they're coming in they're actually using the tools but that's the nature bringing new initiative in with we do it on the odd years and then 2 years the whole district has it so however we can start thinking about what are the prerequisites to come in the high school that would be useful that matched I went to a number of graduation parties this weekend in at one of them two of the young women who were part of the protest a couple weeks ago the sit-in we're talkin to me in any of course they've graduated cylinder it's somewhat theoretical to them at this point but yeah the types of incidences that they were talking about and they were saying you know we kind of understand you know if an administrator a teacher is not right there to witness them is it's really it's did call to report it's difficult to prove and you know they were saying it becomes important really to start this education at the elementary level so it's preventative rather than reactive and by the time most do students get to the high school. Just no longer occurs them to them to do these things and it does occur to them to stand up for each other when they witness them and then you're right you can't start that at ninth grade that's got to start younger so we made a big shift we tried to do it back when the kids were videotaping the fights but it's a pretty large burden on the admin team but when we Face some vandalism this week we the toilet broken off the wall Italy that guy just happened to be in the right spot at the right time it took me like 15 minutes to figure out did it but every single kid that went in there and took pictures and came back out also had consequences as well and every appeal that I took in the parents appealed and said you're you're you're telling me my kid has to rat somebody out and I'm like and I said no I'm telling you your kidney to be a responsible member of our community they don't get to go back in and take pictures they don't get to go back in and get their friends there they've got to tell somebody to do it the right way or don't be there at all so we need to we need to be able to get that second layer of the bullseye but it takes so long to get to the bullseye sometimes we don't get back out there and deal with those students but we were able to handle that too in fact we did it with 33 vandalisms this week we were able to get to the bullseye and the second layer to so are the questions Jacqueline and then Rebecca a lot of this document thank you to you and the team for for doing it so it's her because there's a lot on there I mean for for the team for those of you that have been working on this I'm just curious if there's sort of like a one or two items from each section or sort of a top-five that you like Halo let's get this going to get started a new school year haven't gotten that far yet okay but the three people that jumped on board to help get this far or going to be the next group I really think that next group needs to be a really mixed-up group of State there's things that are going to happen naturally just because there's momentum but to get to the priority pieces of it I've got some ideas about how to lead us to that but I do we need we need a much more diverse group looking at it with me and and I I would encourage and agree with you on that Cindy and then I think that would also lend itself to what you mentioned earlier that with things like for instance I time you're at your sensing a little hesitation to try nothing on so I would hope that when you get a larger group some new you know input thoughts ideas that might help make that embracing you know try it out we've got you know how to try something here and I I think I would suspect from a student standpoint and the whole team High Community you know we have to start somewhere otherwise it just becomes the you know nothing's changed and that's just a setup for you no frustration and you know folks throwing their hands up and I personally don't you know want to see that at not just because I'm school for but family members Community member so I think just you know go for it and let's try something and when are those Community forms that you said you're going to be headlining the summer haven't said okay okay thank you will do the one Zoom so the people can jump and I've got one of those big members for the high school I think one of the things that's important as we try to come to terms with this you guys allowed me with evidence to demonstrate it to make a significant change mid-year you don't transform a whole organizational structure and then of the year but we all realized it was essential we're going to have to keep that open-mindedness as we go forward and we we like to do things at the start of the year but we're going to see that things are going to pop up in the solutions going to come and we're going to have to say okay where's the logical ship and be okay with that we're going to see things emerging handbooks and be okay with that because we're all going in the right direction so that when that class gets in there at 2025 per cent for them but there are ways for us to pilot something with restorative practices just with the ninth grade and then roll it out into the tenth grade and everybody else would follow the traditional him becoming those are the types of things were starting to talk about so that it doesn't feel like oh my gosh we have to know everything about everything for we can take that stuff I'm a real proponent of pilots and evaluating and bringing things on and systematic steps so and I want to come back to that flexibility but Rebecca was not good your first lie it's Heather's every point in every box in here is important and I don't want to pretend that I'm making any more important than the other but something that I see that's distressing because I think when you have a morning that's not flowing right it's going to lead it to the days of this in our by situation and not having students in the building on time you know this should be something I would hope that could be fixed by the beginning of the year are we looking into this is this like a Sim thing with the bus company I mean going to be resolved by a note that I took for following up the daily kids coming in late you know it's really hard to recover from that if we're not even starting off kind of want to get update without that's what's hard not the same bus yeah I'm sure it's a distant sometimes it's not spin community and we're not talking about the exception of there's a tree limb down we've acted it got so problematic we had to quit announcing the late bus and now we have to do it by e-mail cuz people things were getting hurt your from that bus and now we couldn't start now we have to go back and start on me. Dad just got really I mean it it it became quite contentious so but I appreciate in any support I will say this Tim and I worked really hard on this we looked at bringing the catheter dropping a cord down in the middle of the lobby so that kids don't have to go all the way the cafeteria it's not that we haven't done it and the same things true at night you know how how can we reduce the amount of time and stuff so but yeah anything that we can do to help out on getting stew there on time would be useful because it's at least one bus a day almost 5 days a week my suspicion is its related to Lowe's Staffing and constants having turnover so you've got nine news and inexperienced Traction in new construction single and will have facilities if it's all from the bus side maybe we can put worth looking into and finding out you're right that is significant for a while I guess now that with the time change School nursing like more significant issues come up as a result of it is there anything and I understand this is going to be a multi-year fix but is there anything that can be done for next year is the weather in a you kind of hinted it may be fixes that not everyone's on board with but is there any ideas for dinner I just I guess I'm trying to ascertain what's going to be cuz I know we're really excited about the class of 2028 coming up but for all of these for all of our family is in town that have kid was there now I'm going to really look August is only a couple months away so what you know what do they get to look forward to in the fall kind of I just never ever one is listening who is kind of asking that question not looking five years ahead or one will be in a block schedule again next year there's a group what we do with the eye time. Which is just it goes 2:40 to 3:30 or so for this 40 minutes there's been a request to make advisory be 5 days a week and 22 that would reduce some of that time the place where it's at and shift to is right after lunch without it affecting the Cheshire Career Center's requirements so it's either right after lunch and then fourth block or its fourth block and then I time and so they're looking at the pros and cons of that right now there was a conversation about going 45. Model but are scheduled scheduling and getting kids schedules out didn't provide enough time for that that's not to say we can't do it when we passed that people know what their courses are they don't know where they land a shift to a 5. Model is a huge shift in terms of that infrastructure underneath in terms of PowerSchool but you know we turned around and entire School in what 12 hours because after 26 our board meeting once I'm not saying it's impossible I'm saying that we're trying to focus on us Small Step 2 what we really need to do is go back and look at it. What what a what a schedule is so we actually met with the Sanborn principal today to say cuz that's who's doing the most comprehensive baseball longest street in the New Hampshire states to say what what bell schedules work best with you we had a team with him today so we can do stuff moving along at did not going to be a big change in the bell schedule for the fall what we did get asked to consider is the students that are making it do they have to stay so if we have students energy here because their freshman and it's based on age and their parents are willing to pick them up when those things are all being considered as well again though then that takes the kids that are that we want to keep in school and be vibrant and lets them go out so it's hard. but I understand the desire to do it your mark flexibility one of the themes that came out of I guess to speak to flexibility it speaks to the resistance to to changing things and that's not unique to your school I like to think it's Unique to New England but that might not even be true but one of the things the themes that I saw in the Forum that I was that and I understand that they had kind of two very different personalities but was the sense that what have end of this year can't happen again and that we need to be looking at anything that would make that better and I think that's a theme and I guess I'm jumping ahead in the syllabus here but that that Rob heard in his Gordmans reviews that there is a desire across the entire SAU to see some innovative solutions not just in terms of the high school but in terms of the education we provide across the entire SAU and across this disc there is an appetite for that in the community right now and I think this board has been supportive of it when you guys have, Indiana has come and ask for some of the elementary schools haven't been as as aggressive asking for the changes but I think what happened this year was more with the older kids so we we heard more from you and more from Deanna but the board that you have in front of you right now is amenable to these things if you come with with solid reasoning as to why they need to change on the fly so I guess I would encourage you to continue working for that I appreciate that thank you more comments questions for Cindy I know this isn't a heck of a lot to digest bro I probably should still process and maybe I didn't look at this properly and maybe this is it this is deeper in but for safety and behavior and relationships in start of practices I didn't notice any education on Racer the lgbtq community are students being themes the place where I did do the identifying groups was looking at our academic success and I didn't say anything about race cultures Rob dr. Gallagher I don't think Griffin rap I don't think you did inject if you got input even after this evening to say yeah yeah I don't want anyone to feel pressured that they've got to get their input in right now right here because you might walk away you might digest something a little differently and you might say I wish I said that you still can so one of the things if you'll just look at the last page real quick you'll see how I keep track of documents it's a living editing document so it clicks off of any of the footnotes to you'll see what's going on with the document and so it'll be School Board member contact I mean setting food these following themes are at the school board meeting we talked about making sure social identity groups were put into relationships and safety and culture that allow get to it's just a narrative of how the document evolved because that's how we can keep it alive and so that's that's different groups that it that's what needs to happen so you guys get first dibs and then the next group whoever sees it next it will probably be the faculty cuz I'll kick it out and I'll get to give feedback to it and we'll just keep an emerging emerging but eventually it play I've got the gold box in there to tell me that it is a planning document will get groups together that are responsible certain pieces so write their goals in those that their measurable outcomes and will set deadlines for them and we'll get to get it moving it feels like a any strategic plan that came together really really fast so Rob at some point we need to make this kind of information available to the broader public I'm not sure that this document quite ready yet but Tom and I know that there's there's Community forums being contemplated but at some point this needs to go up on the web sites as well somewhere and maybe not this document specifically but information about what we discovered in basically a press release was today. and at this rate up there for people to click on that cat that's a good idea good idea well it's good but it's a living document went to Pluto what makes it less effective as a as a broader Communications tool for what you're trying to do with it and it's a great snapshot for what we're looking at but if you put this as is on the website you get more questions than you get it you know we actually need to play document that says this gives us a place from which to set our plans but we need the goals in the objectives and here's our benchmarks and here's where we're going to go and then the review process and I'm setting this up as a seven-year process to get the kids to grab graduate in eventually it would ever work we're doing going to have to align with me ask so the committee actually said let's look at the themes and see how they line up with the new knee Essington at least Benchmark hornyak overlaps with it I'm no use doing triple work when we can do one process all the way through appreciate your looking at how to implement it as you go rather than trying to reinvent everything in one go and please you guys all have my email if you went when you get a chance to read it if something stood out to you and process just get it to me and I'll add the pieces as we go and you'll be able to watch it in the a.m. I didn't pitch sorry my mind just went slow there next year is that a plan that we potentially could have going like no, the end of August when school starts that we would have that's my hope I don't want to be any later than the middle of the first water so if you'll remember what it happens in the first semester has the kids start to Ping in October and we don't have another location for them until Adult Ed in January but now that we have ihpi we can do other things but doing other things still requires them to have a safe place to go do it at so it is our hope yeah friend speak loud cuz you don't have a mic earlier I just want to is it good for you to preview me document and that we have to set realistic expectations route what gets done is it easy to disassemble call everything Northern meat some of the expectations and goals in this document but we have to do things in a way that whatever process we put in place become sustainable over time and I don't people who look at this document and say there's a lot there when you going to get it done when we really need to find what's the greatest leverage point across these things and do it is definitely so we're make games across all of our different components within the school it's very easy to look at this and say okay to fill it and we start disassembling everything and we don't reassemble anything and I want to caution that we really have to be very thoughtful about going to be this quick fix I think one of our quick fixes when passing a certain paw call see that enables us to meet and personalize the education for kids with need personalization I think that is going to go a long way in changing a climate of a building that I just want to be very cautious about what at this document and seeing all these different things and all the different components and think that we're going to jump on this in its entirety and you can't you can't operate that way where you create more chaos and we are sustainable process I think one is absolutely we're looking for you know the sustainable rebuild of the school not a bandit whatever is done we want to be the long-term fix that makes this a better place that brings us to where we need to be when the ask etcetera rolls around in a couple years and the other thing is you know I hbi the policy that allows that tailoring that's not some that would have occurred to us to look at in that depth and would that kind of outcome so please continue to bring that stuff as you see where you need help from the board continue to bring that to us to have nails and 1st Street Union jic jic play for next year so thank you for getting them out there this month so if they're on this month is the first read will they be ready for us and September be able to pass them in August not sooner because we don't meet in July but I also wanted to say that I think I heard say that you were going to have specific people from the community and students apart of this working document I think I don't want us to lose sight of that cuz that's how we got here is that the community and the students felt that they didn't have transparency and could be part of the solution to make this place better and so are make anywhere better and so I think that that's important that we don't lose sight of that and get in our Silo of making things a certain procedure and I know that you guys are the experts and you have intelligence by the pulse of your community is what started all of this to begin with one of the things that I work with the administrative team to look at is when are we doing things with people versus two people and I'm really hoping to get us do more of the width and so my goal is to get this into community members hands and into the students and I know it's the summer but that's just that's what happened we have zoom and we have live meetings and come on in and we'll share pizza and we'll keep going to the river have momentum with it stay with us I had two students show up today and say we still want to be there and I'm like okay no problem we'll get you there so the more people that we can communicate that with that it's a genuine invitation and yes it takes time but we'll do it in whatever modem we need to we'll get them there I'm glad you went back to that point because you know if you remember the very beginning Cindy was asked to know what are the timelines what's priority and she said that's what we're working on next we do and I think that's exactly what Brian was getting to this is not a shopping list where we're going to get everything dumped into the cart really quick and get it done it's going to take a lot of time a lot of effort there's total commitment to it and I think that that's the critical piece that I just want to focus on there is absolute commitment to this she shared the vision of getting other folks involved knowing that there are a lot of there's a lot of Subs what you have seen it's not as easy as just saying okay bang it's done so it will I think you said seven years would be a really good time frame I'm some of it might move faster some of it might move slow but I think the Wharton part is that there is commitment thanks man I think we need to let Cindy get home and then feed her dogs right now we have about $30,000 a year in damaging Chromebooks we're going to have to come up with a solution how to make sure that doesn't go forward we just can't afford $30,000 a year out of the budget every the second part is stealing part of Ron's the scoreboard the it was more of a facilities issue instead of a Finance issue and again we had the the photos and the descriptions and everything put into the drive explaining why it was much better to replace the the score basically yeah you can replace the bulbs but every time a socket is broken its non-replaceable and so that's what we each came in so one can take that up on the finance side would they still want to see what going forward but unofficially side it we just felt it would it was best to replace with the That's the one I don't think we took action on the scoreboard last month that the football board yet yeah yeah after being sent back to the facilities committee disabilities committee voted 3-0 to support the request recommend that the full board support the request something that the motion was support the request if the academy fund does not approve because isn't this the same scoreboard that was requested as part of the academy fund yep correct to assume they won't so we've set it up and do that right and so is that still what we're looking at is a motion to finance committee recommends to the full board the purchase of the scoreboard as presented by mr. Atkins if the academy fund does not support that that's my understanding that George Michael support letter is in our drive he did get input from the head electrician in the district's from Ken to leave from Lynn patenaude the football coach and if there's somebody else on that list as well but it looks like the gist of it that I'm getting from this letter is that basically the scoreboard itself is beyond repair because the sockets are so damaged that we can't swap them out of my getting that correct Jacqueline correct yes I would also like to emphasize Mike brought this up at our finance meeting last week where division one school and our scoreboard is just not up to par for division 1 School another recent you know there's there's times where you can only defer and kick the can down the road so much this is just a much-needed time to get this purchased and you know this this is just also one of the things were when you have a good scoreboard your athletes feel good your community feels good you know so you've got that aesthetic right there and then also just on a higher level the functionality the other advantage to is by getting this new new scoreboard it also enables us from a technology standpoint to do more in terms of the real time scoring you know if you think about just you know technology with USB port to the Naples from a technology point to level up what the scoreboard can do with activities that are happening on the field so that's the other Advantage you don't forget about light bulbs and sockets for moment just what's available now with scoring and timing the only thing I would add is we've also conveyed or least I have I'm fine with staying again that I do look at these things as things that we should plan on as a board as part of her over budget VIP process versus I feel like it's full hang out there and come and vacuum and have to get to the point of complete obsolescence for it to come up or go to the academy fun to just doesn't make sense to me so regardless of the outcome of this boat can you please relay that down the chain you know I know we talked about this I know facilities talked about it as well it did never should have become a request to the academy Fund in the first place Randy dygert win against after taking a second look at it always ask for second looks at things like that you'll never hurt but once Gallagher scheduling was a huge lift this year they made some changes to traditional class let you know I always teach my class 4th block kind of thing they made some changes to try and accommodate more students in the classes in this is Jess Russ's second for a first-year going through this process so kudos to the high school for forgetting it there I know the councillors were working overtime with the students to try and make these schedules working this still some work through but they've done done a lot of work to get there this year I got Deb Ryan 2907 Mike so lonely we heard and put the folks at hi-five that we work with here in our schools and in a number of different initiatives are going to be presenters at the conference in Portsmouth at the La Quinta High School demonstrators are heading off to so Robin team has been building some pretty strong connections over here who's singing we're from salmagundi this is this is the actual video that she was referring you you know you can just see how well the kid supporting me got their phone tell got the flashlight on and I recognize mr. Berry playing the guitar but who else was up there with him who's the who's the other teacher up there with mr. You know I was a student all right career center Ron did you have a chance to touch base I didn't touch base with but I did get to attend the annual ceremony which was awesome as I continue to get on board in that group but also the further understand the connection of the whole community so in other words I know we were talk earlier about open challenges related to to the timing of things but for Fall Mountain in for Monadnock as well as some pretty amazing kids at go through this program for the entire O'Reilly are here in the scholarships that were provided and they the speeches that were provided and the support these kids have was really awesome to see so I I was great to go and witness that I'm glad you got to go out of conflict this year that's usually one of my favorite suit that the year-round to attend for exactly that reason the community that they build in the Cheshire career center and the support that they have for each other and from their teachers and from the community is is just amazing the way alright middle school Jacqueline nothing specific to report this month other than what we've already talked about obviously there's been a lot of end-of-year concerts and events and then a 8th grader birthday this Friday afternoon all right Franklin if you had the raw leave you had a chance to to contact there are very pleased with how well the map scores and experience and learning experience has improved among the students there. Just you don't quite the why didn't they have really good reports for that and the principal also told that he had a really delightful field trip and it was so country and be able to have a real field trip for the first time in two years so babe it's really built a lot of spirits and a lot of camaraderie there and thanks Riley Fuller School Randy volume up more formal and we get to able to get in some some bullet points you know is interesting cuz one of the last things we talked about that wasn't on the bullet points was the safety plans for elementary school and she kind of pointed out that she had noticed was Eliza Hart Benton Elementary School kind of had like a different planner police and fire showed up a different times and it really wasn't a set court date of when the thing about this whole thing was it happened before what happened on its axis so she brought that up in a pretty  what she said like staging Tiberius things that you don't know me think I was kind of course what happened last week ago wow so that's one of the issues that need your obviously be discussing more coordinated so you know if the police or fire show up in the store and school is almost the same going again it was need to my little guy got to go to montshire Africa got to go to Stonewall Farm to finish off their Farm to school spring program which is really needs I was nice seeing things can return to normal Chris talk to Al on Patty they expect the school to be emptied and ready to go at 6 in the morning on Monday they already had the 40 ft then you're out half the that's jam-packed expect another 40-footer today tomorrow or the day after half the gym is already covered up already and filed they're ready to go and there's no doubt in my mind that you should be keeping track of them every week on their weekly meeting to make sure that they meet that 42 days 52 day window that they have patio was able to use some Title One money they just just barely got any was over too late but it's in now that they're putting backpacks together for all the Neon they have some book some things other items and everything to keep their interest going through the the summer and they were hoping to give him out when he had the parents there but they came in numb late so they were handing them out today and hopefully they finish handing out them tomorrow at the 6th event and the highlight of tomorrow how old is Vin is that each year all the fifth grade is come up with designs that they would like to have on me a book in the 4th graders get the pic which is when is it going to be so no one knows what it's going to be that's what everybody want to go to school tomorrow at 4 to find out yeah thanks Chris Jonathan Daniels the Community Education the kindergarten Daniel's end of here the festivities and they were awesome at the Kona ice machine and they had activities outside and my son and all the children and teachers were just it was amazing it was a beautiful day and there Bubbles and music they all had their murals that they all had put together out on the wall of of themselves and I thought that was pretty fascinating and cool but it was a great celebration and I'll tlt's the facilities team and say time to have a new place play yard but we'll talk about that later because I was looking at the structure and it was fated us like they need crash they need they need benches and I'm like okay stop bro anyway but it was a rather amazing ceremony it was just awesome it was so much I didn't get to meet with Victoria at Community Ed because I was traveling for work but she did send me a quick update she said they are also finished for the year they will they did apply and received additional funds from the state for upgrades to technology approximately $25,000 and $12,000 for materials and promoting and advertising and marketing which is pretty awesome so good kudos the time for reaching out and getting those Grant they will have summer classes and they did get funding for that from about $14,000 to do two diploma classes in one online the are doing a basic adult education class for language arts they're also tutoring at the county jail which I thought was pretty significant because that helps you know the store people back into our community so I thought that was pretty impressive they're going to have to they're going to have ESL classes to our online and they'll be volunteering at the working through volunteering at the Monadnock there and it says the Keene Ice Arena 7 people signed up and they're going through the background check process in screening process but they'll start in the fall which was pretty cool and they just need fun once staff position which will be a part-time career counselor I supposed to Spitz here Robin I attended the alternative diploma program as well which was it's always small but it's the good stories that the students go through to achieve their ADP is is pretty impressive very touching so that was a nice Ceremony this year as well I can meet them the first time I went and I was there cuz I didn't want to leave him at so I enjoyed being with them they're just a great group of people earlier today about this training session is over nobody's Reddit suggestions for Resolutions to the manual delegation so there's really not a lot to report Raleigh did you want to mention anything that you and I didn't chat about I think that covers it that mean we've there's some furry some legislation that we're pretty concerning to a lot of us and that appears so negative legislation and that appears to be not as much of a turn right now so I don't think there's much to say about it and we did talk about the last two years we've actually had resolutions that we presented were past didn't really appear do either of us but there's a lot coming true that were concerned about this not already covered by what the NHS PA is already advocating for so and we thought it was probably better to start focusing our efforts more on our local issues supporting the high school William their efforts coming up SAU we did have the annual SAU board meeting on June 1st Mega Cordell is going to continue his chair for another year I'm going to continue as Vice care for another year we also have performed just prior to that the annual superintendent's evaluation the themes that came from the sending towns were very similar to what you also I hear when we did ours and there was a lot of consensus across the district and egg Cordell and I have to meet with Rob one more time to finalize his goals for the coming year which were hoping to get done soon but obviously not this week because you've heard he's a little busy going to graduation ceremonies but we want to get that in place before the summer if it all possible and then once that happens that will be a document that everyone can view so we'll report it at a boy meeting but it will also be available for Brooks to see all right I have nothing under old business we do have a number of items for new business starting with the 22 23 keyboard of a vacation meeting schedule I will take a motion to adopt that Board of Education meeting schedule for Academic Year 2020 to 2023 and I will immediately Jennifer sin Prisa emailed me earlier today to point out something that I should have caught all by myself February 7th and March 7th are the first Tuesday of February and March not the second Tuesday of February and March so those dates will be wrong we would be meeting on February 14th man and March 14th yep Valentine's day it is because I never get anything no you have to repeat what now what happens generally happens if policy gets torched their brands asking is that because there's only in February the last week of February is a
