Official Ballot, Budget and Warrant Information
The Keene School District has been an official ballot school district since 1997. The official ballot gives the opportunity for registered voters of Keene, NH to vote on proposed school district budgets, bonds, labor agreements; and to elect the members of the Keene Board of Education, District Moderator, and District Clerk.
Budgets, labor agreements, and election of officials require a simple majority vote to be approved; whereas, bond questions require a super majority (or 60%) approval to be adopted.
Election of School Board Members
Each year, there are at least three open school board seats available, each for a term of three-years. To be eligible, a person must be a registered voter of Keene, NH and not an employee of any district within SAU29. (SAU29 comprises the districts of: Chesterfield, Harrisville, Keene, Marlborough, Marlow, Nelson, and Westmoreland.)
Election of the Moderator and District Clerk
To be eligible, a person must be a registered voter of Keene, NH and not a member of the Keene Board of Education.
Filing Period
A ten day filing period for open positions occurs in January. Dates are announced prior to the filing period through various public media outlets. Interested persons may file at the Superintendent's Office, located in the SAU 29 Central Office, at 193 Maple Avenue, Keene, NH; during normal business hours (Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).
